It’s all ready enough pressure to know what to feed kids these days but student athletes need some specific attention to make sure they are getting the energy they need. There is a great article on KidsHealth.org that talks about what kids should eat when they exercise.
School-age kids (ages 6 to 12) generally need between 1,600 and 2,500 calories a day. An athlete who is more active than a typical active kid might need to eat more.
The article also talks about what kinds of food best make up the calorie intake for a student athlete.
