Unhealthy foods provided by vending machines and a la cartes has decreased in schools. In 2000 only 20% of states prohibited the sale of unhealthy foods via a la carte during breakfast and lunch. In 2006 42% prohibited the sale of unhealthy foods. The number of schools selling unhealthy baked goods and candy for fund-raising has also decreased.
