1158561_responsibility_1Nutrient dense foods are foods that provide a considerable amount of vitamins and minerals in fewer calories. For example, a glass of whole milk contains the same vitamins and minerals as a glass of fat-free milk, but you consume about 60 extra calories to get those nutrients when you choose whole milk. Making nutritious, nutrient dense choices can help you get the nutrients you need without the extra calories you don’t. Visit mypyramid.gov to learn how you can include more nutrient dense foods.
