May is National High Blood Pressure Education Month. If you haven’t had your blood pressure checked in awhile, you should, especially if high blood pressure runs in your family. What can you do to lower your blood pressure if it’s too high? Increase your physical activity and talk to your doctor or a dietitian about the DASH diet. DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. This diet has been proven to help lower high blood pressure, focusing on increased consumption of fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products.
