Adolescents should consume three servings of low-fat dairy products every day. Dairy products not only help to build and maintain strong bones, they may also help teens to achieve and maintain a healthy body mass index (BMI). According to a study on the relationship betwen the consumption of dairy products and body fat, adolescents who consumed an adequate amount of dairy had a lower body mass index than those who did not. Learn more about this study, funded by the National Dairy Council and published by the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, by visiting jacn.org.
