Calling All Campers!

With the end of the school year approaching, many parents and youngsters are making plans for summer activities and vacations.  Being that I am a fitness professional and a mom, I decided to research fitness camps.  Although most of the fitness camps I found are focused on weight loss and getting out-of-shape youngsters back on track, there is also more depth involved.  One should not think of these new and improved programs as “fat camps”, but as a vehicle for kids to be educated on nutrition, exercise, and healthy living…including mental health.  Most of the camps offer a variety of programs from outdoor nature activities to fitness dance and organized sports.  Your child or adolescent does not have to be overweight to attend these camps, just ready for an active and lifestyle-changing experience.  Check out some of these camps: New Image Camp, Camp La Jolla, Camp Shane, Wellspring Camps.
